This year’s Martnan

The city square has been a permanent retreat for Martnan since 1681, but this year the square is undergoing renovation and improvements. For that reason we use several areas around the city square. The market with all exhibitors is located in Munkegata from the city square (Torvet) and up to Erling Skakkes gate and in Kongens gate and further on to Apotekerveita. Martnan’s own summer scene is located outside Our Lady Church (Vår Frue Kirke). In the market streets you will find goods and products within health and well-being, houses, huts and leisure, craftwork, arts and crafts, clothes, shoes and jewelry.

NEW LOCATION: This is how this year´s Martnan will be arranged due to renovations at the city square.

Martnan for children and young people

This year, Martnan offer fun activities for children and young people. Play the traditional game from Trondheim «Basse» on the city square, unfold yourself creatively at the yard in Parkgården or go to a picnic in Stiftsgårdsparken. You can also play in the largest sandbox in the city, ride ponies,  and be entertained by all the fun that takes place on the Summer Stage. Really some great opportunities to enjoy yourself!

Free Culture Program: Magic Show, Concerts and Dance Show

At 12:00 every day, Martnan´s cultural program starts on the Summer Stage, where you can experience magic, music and dance. One of Norway’s best magicians and celebrities from Norwegian Talents, Hans Henrik Verpe, brings his energetic magic show to entertain and fascinate both young and old. The trio «Bare Fjas and Blågras» will with three-tune songs, banjo, fiddle and guitar take the audience on a musical journey into the American countryside in real cowboy style. Find a bench or a spot of green and let yourself be entertained – here’s lot to look forward to!

MAGICAL: One of the best magicians in Norway, Hans Verpe, will entertain and fascinate both young and old with his energetic magic show on the Summer Stage.

The Farmer’s Market, honey cake and International Food

For those who love food, Martnan is a destination for delicacies from domestic- and international areas. Food from all corners of the world can be bought at this year’s Martnan, and you can enjoy flavors and produce from Italy, the Netherlands, Thailand and Spain. At the Farmers Market you will find food from the woods, the mountains and the sea; deer, wild salmon and wild sheep, in addition to cheese, sweet baking, fresh donuts and ham from local producers. The city’s cool foodtrucks from Una Autopizzeria and Kompis cook tasty handmade food made on site. To those who have the honey cake close to heart, we can gladly announce that they also will be found at Martnan this year.
